Director of Design / Senior Architect
We are looking for a Director of Design / Senior Architect with extensive residential experience. Creative design, presentation and people management experience and expertise are a must!
RESPONSIBLITIES

Must be a leader and able to manage and organize our design department.

Coordinate with our design & production team to develop creative residential architecture solutions

Develop and lead schematic presentations

Develop construction sets for our building projects

Ensures compliance with architectural, construction, and engineering standards

Work positively with clients to determine requirements for their remodel

Develop initial project estimates on structure costs, building schedule special requirements
-
Prepare detailed drawings showing both the appearance and interior structure of a building project
-
Direct staff for on time, on budget development of project drawings, studies and budgets

Visit job sites to ensure work is being done according to architectural plans

Utilize knowledge of County/jurisdiction Building Code and Permitting requirements to gather and collect design conditions for new construction, interior and exterior alterations or repairs: expertise needed for Arlington and Alexandria Counties, and NWDC.

Evaluate site conditions and constraints for construction projects.

Participate in team meetings to coordinate design options and ideas.

Develop appropriate schematic plans per project scope and budget.

Research concepts and materials to support the team on technical issues influencing concept development.

Select materials and finishes while keeping within budget
Use CAD tool effectively to draft design drawings, must include 3D models. -
Work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion

Conduct on-site observations and provide recommendations to help streamline ongoing design projects

Manage and execute design assignments in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

10 years of experience

Bachelor's degree in computer design field or equivalent technical school or equivalent experience in REVIT, AutoCAD, design or field experience

Master's degree preferred

Complex problem solving ability required. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced atmosphere

Computer Aided Design for residential construction

5 years of experience in developing BIM models for residential construction

Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and/or similar
-
Generate Plan Drawings, Details, and Schedules for projects in various phases of design and construction according to industry standards

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Sheets
