At an early age, Michael discovered his passion for creating, improvising, and designing through the art of music.  As a professional musician and performer, he gained valuable skills working with a team, listening to those around him, and building something unique as a result.  After his first home remodeling, Michael realized how well these skills translated to crafting thoughtful designs and inventive solutions in homes.  After co-founding TriVistaUSA with his wife, Deborah, Michael’s high-quality and adaptable style drew the attention of clients.  His creative solutions have won him 32 awards since starting the company in 2005, including Big50 in 2011, when Remodeling Magazine honored TriVistaUSA as one of the top 50 remodeling companies in the country.  

 

Michael is the heart of TriVistaUSA, and, as such, his artistic vision and building expertise are represented in every project.  His personalized approach to each design reflects Michael’s uncanny ability to interpret and produce the vision of his clients.  Through his experience with many clients, he has learned first hand the turbulence that can accompany remodeling and has developed systems to ease these stresses. 

 

When Michael is not remodeling, he can be found learning Japanese from his daughter Kamryn, jamming with his son Gibson on the guitar, or rock climbing with his wife Deborah.  His passions outside the office are the source of Michael’s endless creativity and innovation; his family, friends, and world around him constantly inspire him. 

What is your ideal weekend getaway?

Anywhere Deborah and I can drive or fly to in under two and a half hours, that promises sunshine, bright lights, or big trouble.  Preferably, all three.

 

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

My Old Testament professor at Towson told me, in an incredibly deep, southern drawl, “Michael Saw-ree, what does Micah 6:8 say?  It says to do justice, love, and mercy, and don’t get too big for your britches!”

 

What’s on your bookshelf?

An anthology of works of 18th century composers, The Beatles: The Complete Score, Building Your Own Home for Dummies (had to start somewhere), gobs and gobs of design books, and every literature text from college.

 

Which three people do you invite to a dinner party?

Jesus, Jimi Hendrix, and Miles Davis; we’d fix everything.

 

If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you try?

Either Kona Ironman, or Special Forces Boot Camp—heck, if I wasn’t going to fail, I’d do both!
