Case Study: Two Daring Kitchens with Vibrant Season Room Companions

Why settle for beige when you could cook beside a sunshine-yellow range? These two fearless kitchen remodels are anything but boring. Featuring dramatic layout overhauls, big personality, and color that packs a punch, both projects also include season rooms that echo and enhance the new design. It's proof that a great kitchen doesn't have to stand alone—it can have a fabulous sidekick.

Project 1: Sunny, Stylish, and Full of Life

Our first client was dreaming of a kitchen that actually worked for cooking—and reflected their joyful, eclectic taste. The old layout was tight and disjointed, with a boxed-in breakfast area, and a screened porch that felt more like a utility space than a retreat. The kitchen was crying out for function... and maybe a little flair.

To bring it to life, we made the bold decision to center the design around a KitchenAid 48-inch dual-fuel range in Yellow Pepper, which instantly became the heart of the room. We paired it with cabinetry painted in Sherwin Williams 9149 “Inky Blue”, creating a high-contrast, high-drama color story that feels both fun and sophisticated. The reimagined layout opened the kitchen to the elegant dining room, improved circulation, and added generous prep and storage space without compromising on style.

From Deck to Greenhouse-Inspired Retreat

The boldness didn’t stop in the kitchen. Before the renovation, the home’s breakfast area felt boxed-in and disconnected from the rest of the kitchen. Just beyond it, the deck offered some outdoor space, but it lacked protection from the elements and could only be enjoyed in ideal weather.

As part of the remodel, we refinished the breakfast room to better integrate it with the newly opened kitchen layout—adding light, flow, and function. Then we turned our attention to the deck. By enclosing it and addressing insulation and weatherproofing, we transformed the space into a vibrant three-season room inspired by our client’s love of plants. The new space echoes the kitchen’s bold color palette and brings the outdoors in. Now, it serves as a bright, functional retreat where greenery—and guests—can thrive year-round.

Project 2: Funky Flow Fix for a 1953 Classic

This charming 1953 home had serious personality—but the layout? Not so much. The kitchen was a narrow galley trapped between two walls, the circulation was clunky, and the screened porch was always wet and, let’s be honest, a little sad. Getting from the kitchen to the living room required a detour through the dining room—and if someone pulled out a chair, good luck.

To untangle the flow, we made a major structural change by opening up a thick dividing wall between the kitchen and living room. This new pathway reduced bottlenecks and made the entire floor feel lighter, brighter, and more connected. The kitchen itself was redesigned from the ground up, anchored by a custom island with open shelving on multiple sides—offering space for prep, display, and storage all at once. The ILVE USA Majestic Electric Freestanding Range in Custom Color Salmon Orange brought a touch of personality and playfulness, perfectly aligned with the homeowner’s bold style.

From Underused Porch to Four-Season Statement Space

Just beyond the kitchen, the transformation continued. The screened porch—previously underused and only comfortable during the warmer months—was ready for an upgrade. It lacked insulation and felt disconnected from the rest of the home.

We reimagined the space as a vibrant four-season room, designed to echo the open look and feel of the newly remodeled kitchen. To match our client's bold, modern style, we painted the walls a deep purple and layered in bright yellow accents through furnishings and decor. Now, this once-forgotten area is a cozy, colorful extension of the home that’s just as lively and inviting as the kitchen it complements.
