The butterfly and the cricket
The butterfly roof, spreading its wings sixteen feet high, covers an expansive deck we built for lovers of the great outdoors. All the while during inclement weather, the cricket* sits atop the butterfly roof shooting rainwater into up-sized gutters ensuring all are dry below. On clear days, six over-sized skylights and screen walls allow sunlight to bathe the deck as ceiling fans gently circulate fresh air. Folks can gather round the wood stove to share stories and meals from the grill while they are gloriously free from attacks by mosquitoes.
*An architectural cricket is a raised portion of a roof meant to divert water.
